Role Summary

Bring deep specialist engineering expertise to MSN's systems across RF/microwave, photonics (Φ-OTDR), and signal processing. This is a hands-on role for an engineer with strong domain depth who can design, prototype, and refine the specialist subsystems that underpin MSN's capability.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop RF/microwave, photonics, and signal-processing subsystems
Work hands-on with Φ-OTDR and related photonic sensing techniques
Develop and optimise signal-processing algorithms and pipelines
Prototype, test, and characterise specialist hardware and systems
Collaborate with platform and AI engineering on integrated capability
Support field trials and deployment of specialist subsystems
Document designs, test results, and specifications
Contribute domain expertise to architecture and requirements decisions

Required Qualifications

5⁺ years in RF/microwave, photonics, or signal-processing engineering
Strong domain depth in at least one specialist area, with breadth across others
Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, and testing specialist systems
Strong analytical and signal-processing skills
Experience characterising and validating hardware or subsystems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Φ-OTDR or distributed fibre-optic sensing
Experience developing for defence or industrial applications
Advanced degree or research background in a relevant specialist domain
